THE WASHED OF US

THE WASHED OF US

A variety of washing techniques are employed in garment finishing, including general washing, stone washing, blue pattern washing, snowflake washing, and fried salt. Each method employs unique processes that can result in effects such as fading, whitening, patterning, and nuanced color variations, imbuing garments with a subtly weathered aesthetic. These distinctive characteristics ensure that older styles may evolve gracefully with each wash cycle, reflecting a natural and desirable patina over time.

This natural evolution is a typical phenomenon, distinct from issues of color fixation often associated with large-scale industrial dyeing of fabrics. We use a specialized fermentation washing process to achieve a retro, faded, and subtly discolored appearance—an effect distinct from those of industrially mass-produced colored fabrics.

Each of our washed styles is meticulously dyed and processed in small, artisanal batches. This approach ensures that no two batches are exactly alike in color or texture. Even when using identical dyeing protocols, the results can vary significantly with each wash cycle. It is this inherent variability that imbues our washed styles with their distinctive charm and unique character.

This deliberate variation allows for an ever-evolving visual and tactile experience, enhancing the individuality and appeal of our garments.
